Punta del Este is getting a very special Halloween event: On Saturday, October 31, 2026, “Thriller Gorlero” invites everyone to join an open flash mob on Avenida Gorlero. Anyone can take part – while also supporting a good cause.
In short: The flashmob starts on October 31 at 6:00 PM on Avenida Gorlero in Punta del Este. Participation is free, no prior dance experience is required, and the event is open to all age groups. The Fundación Pérez Scremini is supported through raffles and donations.
Dance together to "Thriller"
Avenida Gorlero is one of the most famous streets in Punta del Este.
On Halloween night, it will temporarily become a large dance floor.
At "Thriller Gorlero," residents and visitors can participate together in a flash mob inspired by Michael Jackson's famous song "Thriller" and its iconic choreography. It is explicitly not about dance perfection: The event is aimed at everyone who wants to be part of the action. No dance experience is required.
Anyone who wants to join can practice the choreography in advance.
There is a detailed YouTube tutorial by Dance Fit Couple, where the well-known "Thriller" dance steps are explained step by step. This allows the choreography to be prepared at home before heading to Avenida Gorlero together on October 31.
Further information about the event and preparation will be published on the Instagram account @thriller.gorlero.
Dancing for a good cause
In addition to the shared experience, the flash mob has a social background. During the event, donations will be collected and tickets will be sold.
The proceeds benefit the Fundación Pérez Scremini.
The foundation is committed to treating cancer in children and adolescents in Uruguay and supports the pediatric hematology-oncology department of Hospital Pereira Rossell.
A special experience in Punta del Este
For families, newcomers, and visitors, the event is a nice opportunity to get to know Punta del Este away from the beach, restaurants, and classic sights.
Such local events show another side of the city: Punta del Este is not just a vacation spot, but has an active social and cultural life in which residents and visitors can easily participate.
